The relationship between childhood trauma and juvenile delinquency is prevalent in society.

Trauma experienced during childhood has long-lasting effects, including juvenile offending. This paper examines research that showcases the high rates of post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic events experienced by juvenile delinquents. In addition, this paper serves as a guide for effective intervention methods when working with adolescents who have experienced trauma and committed crimes. Focusing on two models that have shown effectiveness in research, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT). The paper provides an understanding of how juvenile facilities respond to childhood trauma and the direction for future implementation of trauma-informed interventions.
